Introduction
In today’s, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is Transforming the world day by day. It is bringing significant changes to major Industries and adding new dimensions to people’s daily lives. Not only that, but (AI) is also a Topic of extensive Discussion in the Religion. Whether it’s any Religion in the world, (AI) is being widely debated in all faiths. The purpose of writing this blog today is simple: Since I am a Muslim, it is Natural that whenever something new emerges, I, as a Muslim, will certainly discuss it from an Islamic perspective. Keeping this in mind, I thought why not write a helpful blog today about Islam and (AI), which could benefit Muslims around the world. Anyway, the question that arises in my heart is whether (AI) is compatible with Islamic teachings or not. What is the reality behind it? In this blog, we will explore and understand this in detail.
First, let us understand that our Islam emphasizes solely and exclusively on teachings of justice, honesty, and responsibility. I want to first test (A) from this perspective to see what the result will be. Will (AI) represent these principles of Islam or not? Let’s see. My request to all of you is to please stay connected with me. I will try my best to provide you with valuable information. Let’s see.
What is Islam?
Friends, first of all, when I gave the prompt “What is Islam?” to the AI, the information it provided was not 100% but about 95% accurate. For example, when I asked “What is Islam?” it gave me this answer:
“Islam is a complete way of life. It is the best way to live, which Allah (SWT) has given to humanity through His final Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). Islam is not limited to worship alone but encompasses every aspect of life, such as knowledge, justice, fairness, morality, and social conduct. It provides guidance on how to live in every situation.
I was very happy with this answer. Then I asked another question:
When it replied, I was surprised and confused. You can read the answer it gave me yourself:
- Tauheed (Oneness of Allah):Islam believes in only one Allah (SWT) and worships Him alone. Every Muslim believes that Allah is one, and He has no partners.
- Nubuwwat (Prophethood):Islam believes in all the prophets and considers Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) as the final Messenger of Allah. The first prophet in the world was Hazrat Adam (AS), whom Allah (SWT) created from clay, etc. If I start writing about Hazrat Adam (AS), the topic will become very lengthy.
- Akhirat (Day of Judgment and Reward-Punishment):Every Muslim believes that one day, Qayamat (Judgment Day) will come, and every person will have to account for their deeds. That day will be so terrifying that no one can imagine it. May Allah protect us all from the hardships of that day. (Amen)
Islam and the teachings of Islam are a religion based on peace, brotherhood, and justice, which connects humans to one another and to Allah, and teaches them the way to live the best life. After discussing these important things with (AI), I now have to move on to the next thing.
AI-based Quran Interpretation: AI algorithms can analyze Quran text and provide deeper insights and understanding for everyone. However, it is crucial to pay attention to the type of prompts you give to the AI.
Hadith Verification: When you provide the right prompts, AI can assist in authenticating Hadiths and provide references with accurate information. But I will repeat my point: you must first learn how to use AI correctly.

Automated Islamic Legal Assistance
AI-powered tools can help answer basic Fiqh-related questions. In conclusion, I would say that you can ask AI almost anything, and it will provide you with an answer. However, it is important to remember that AI is a robot, not a human. It is a machine that analyzes questions based on the input it receives, searches the internet, and then provides information. Nevertheless, it can never replace the human mind or the expertise of Islamic scholars.
Regarding the benefits of AI that we have read, understood, and learned about so far, an ordinary person might decide to use AI 100% in their life. However, is such a decision right or wrong?
The way AI works, through its algorithms, is such that when we give it a prompt, it researches on the internet based on its technology (Machine Learning). Whatever prompt we give, it gathers knowledge from various sources on the internet and provides it to us. This means that the knowledge it gives us is not its own but rather collected from others, which it compiles within seconds and presents to us as an article, paragraph, or sentences.
I want to clarify one thing: we can obtain information about the Quran and Hadith through AI in various ways, which can help increase our knowledge. However, before applying any information provided by AI in our lives, we should consult our scholars and seek guidance from respected Muftis regarding all these matters. Only after their advice should we make decisions about the issues in our lives. This is a matter that requires special attention.
FAQs About AI in Islam
1. Is AI haram in Islam?
No, AI isn’t haram in itself. It just depends upon its usage—whether a person uses it properly or wrongly. If AI is used ethically and does well to society, it is acceptable to Islam.
2. Can AI substitute human judgment in Islamic law (Shariah)?
No, AI can’t substitute human judgment in Islamic law (Shariah).
No, never. AI is a machine, and no matter how powerful the machine is, it can never be utilized to make decisions but can only be used for work. Machines do not possess moral reasoning and divine knowledge. Scholars who have profound knowledge of Fiqh are needed to make Islamic verdicts.
3. Should Muslims shun AI employment?
No, not at all. Nowadays, AI is everywhere, and anyone, be he a Muslim or not, must have complete awareness of AI and use it. There is no question of halal or haram here. Muslims are also free to join the field of AI, subject to Islamic laws, regulations, ethics, and keeping halal and haram separate.
4. Can AI be utilized to disseminate Islamic knowledge?
Yes, AI can definitely be used to teach and disseminate Islamic knowledge, but there are conditions. You have to learn how to use AI first before using it for this purpose. For instance, you can utilize chatbots, apps, and online learning platforms to help with this endeavor.
Muslims should use AI responsibly, ensuring that it aligns with Islamic ethics and benefits humanity. They must maintain a clear distinction between halal and haram and avoid any form of harm.

Conclusion
Finally, the connection between AI and Islam is a complicated but interesting issue. AI as a tool itself does not go against the Islamic religion. It can be a precious tool for its ability to improve knowledge, aid in research, and give insight into Islamic studies, such as Quranic interpretation, verification of Hadith, and general issues of Fiqh. But one should remember that AI is a machine—a product of human beings—and not a replacement for human intelligence, moral conscience, or Islamic scholars’ God-gifted knowledge. While AI has many advantages, its application must be according to Islamic values, justice, honesty, and accountability. Muslims should exercise caution while using AI because its uses might not be against Islamic values but could be leading to unethical outcomes. It is necessary to look up to learned scholars and Muftis before applying knowledge derived from AI in religious or personal matters to maintain the sanctity of Islamic teachings.
Finally, AI can be a useful tool for Muslims if used ethically and responsibly. It can be employed in a positive way for Islamic education, research, and everyday life, as long as it is brought under the umbrella of Islam. As technology evolves, Muslims need to be vigilant, sagacious, and ensure that their use of AI stays within the boundaries of their faith.
