Website Developer in Billawar & Kathua: Cost and Checklist

Website Developer in Billawar and Kathua: What to Know Before You Hire One

Three people quoted you three different prices for the same website. Here's why that happens, what a fair price looks like, and how to avoid the common traps.

You asked three people about a website and got three prices: ₹5,000, ₹25,000 and "depends". It's confusing, and it makes people put the whole thing off. This guide is written by a website developer in Billawar who works with Kathua businesses every week. I'll explain what you're really paying for, what a fair cost looks like, and how to hire without getting stuck with a site you don't control.

What a website developer actually does

People often think a developer only "makes the design". The work is wider than that. For a normal business site, a developer will usually:

  • plan the pages so visitors can find what they need in a few seconds;
  • build the site so it opens quickly on a mid-range phone and a slow connection;
  • set up your domain, hosting, email and security;
  • add contact forms, a call button and a WhatsApp button;
  • do the basic SEO setup, such as page titles, descriptions and a sitemap;
  • test it, launch it, and fix problems afterwards.

Design is part of it, and we go deeper on that in our guide to choosing a website design company in Kathua. Here we'll stay on the hiring side.

Freelancer, agency or a DIY builder?

All three can work. They just suit different situations.

OptionGood atWatch out for
DIY builder (Wix, Canva sites and similar)Very small, simple sites you'll update yourselfLimited SEO control, monthly fees that add up, hard to move later
Freelance developerSmaller budgets and one-off buildsDisappearing after launch, no backup person, unclear ownership

The label doesn't matter as much as the answers to a few questions. We list those below.

What a website costs in Billawar and Kathua

A simple WordPress business website starts from ₹8,000 with us. That usually covers a handful of pages, a mobile-friendly design, a contact form, a WhatsApp button and basic SEO setup. What pushes the price up:

  • More pages. A ten-page site costs more than a five-page one, simply because there's more to build and write.
  • An online shop or booking system. Payments, stock and bookings are real extra work.
  • Custom design. A unique layout takes more time than a well-chosen template.
  • Content and photos. If we write the text and edit the images, that's extra. If you bring them, it's faster and cheaper.
  • More than one language. English plus Hindi or Urdu doubles the content to check.

Be careful with a price that seems too good. Ask what's included, who pays for hosting and the domain after year one, and whether updates cost extra. If you'd like to see how a website fits into the bigger picture of getting customers, our guide to a digital marketing agency in Billawar explains where the site sits.

From first call to launch: how a build usually goes

  1. Brief. What you sell, who buys it, which towns you serve, and what you want visitors to do (call, message, visit).
  2. Structure. A simple map of pages: home, services, about, contact and any special pages.
  3. Design. Colours, fonts and layout that match your business. You approve before we build.
  4. Build. The pages are made, forms and buttons are connected, and speed is tuned.
  5. Content and photos. Real text and real photos go in. This is where most delays happen.
  6. Phone testing. We check on different phones, browsers and a slow connection.
  7. Launch. The site goes live, we submit it to Google Search Console, and we give you the logins.

With content ready, a simple site often goes live in one to three weeks. Without content, it waits for you.

Own your domain, hosting and logins

This is the one point I'd ask you to treat as non-negotiable. Your domain name should be registered in your name. Your hosting account should be in your name too, or at least you should hold admin access. If a developer owns everything and then disappears, you could lose your site, your email and your Google history.

Ask three things before you pay: "Whose name is the domain in?", "Will I get the admin login?" and "Can I take the site to another host if I want to?" A good developer answers all three quickly and without discomfort.

A hiring checklist you can use today

  • Ask for two or three live sites they built, and open them on your own phone.
  • Check how fast those sites load on mobile data.
  • Look for a visible phone number and WhatsApp button on every sample.
  • Ask what SEO setup is included, and what isn't.
  • Get the scope, the price and the timeline in writing.
  • Ask what support you get after launch, and for how long.
  • Confirm you'll receive all logins when the work is done.

Common mistakes we see

  • Looks like everyone else's site. The same template, the same stock photos, nothing that says where you are or what you do.
  • Photos of another place. Visitors notice. Use real photos of your shop, team and work.
  • A heavy video on the first screen. It looks fancy on a laptop and crawls on a phone.
  • Contact details buried. If visitors have to hunt for your number, many won't.
  • No plan after launch. A site that is never updated or promoted just sits there.

Why hiring a local developer helps

A developer from the area understands who your customers are and how they search. We can talk in Hindi, Urdu, Dogri or English, meet you at your shop, and understand things like tourist seasons, admission seasons and festival rushes. It also helps that if something breaks on a Friday evening, you know where to find us.

That doesn't mean a local developer is automatically better. It means you should get the same careful answers, plus the benefit of being able to sit across a table.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website developer in Kathua charge?

A simple business website built on WordPress starts from Rs 8,000 at DeenWebWorks. Cost goes up with more pages, an online shop, booking features, custom design and content writing. Always get the scope in writing before paying.

How long does it take to build a website?

A simple business site usually takes one to three weeks once you've given us your content and photos. Larger sites with shops or bookings take longer. Delays are most often caused by missing content, not by development.

Should I choose a freelancer or an agency?

A good freelancer can be great for a small site. An agency is better when you also need SEO, design, content and ongoing support in one place. Whichever you pick, check live samples and make sure you will own your domain and hosting.

Will my website show up on Google automatically?

No. A new website needs basic SEO setup, a sitemap submitted to Google Search Console, and time to be indexed. Ranking for competitive searches takes continued work on content, your Google Business Profile and reviews.

Can you build a website in Hindi or Urdu?

Yes. We can build in English, Hindi, Urdu or a mix, and set it up properly for each language so it reads well and loads fast on phones.
